BPW/PA Legislative Platform Forum Topic: Title IX Update Presented by District 10 Sponsored by the BPW/PA Legislation Committee You are cordially invited to District 10’s Legislative Platform Forum on Tuesday May 21, 2024, from 7:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. via Zoom. We are so fortunate to have as our Presenter, Peg Pennepacker, renowned Title IX expert with decades in athletics and Title IX. Following up on her comprehensive January 3rd, 2023 Title IX Legislative Platform Forum presentation, Peg is returning for a 2024 update on the current status of Title IX.
To quote Peg, “There is a lot going on with Title IX. We are awaiting the new Title IX regulations to be issued. The new regulations for the first time since 1975 will be issued in two parts. The first part will cover sexual harassment and the second part will deal with transgender participation in athletics. Timelines for the new regulations have been repeatedly delayed and postponed. I hope to be able to give an update on the first part of the regs that should be coming out in May. The transgender athletic participation part of the regs have now been delayed until after the election in November. Whatever the current state of Title IX status may be by May 21st the Forum will offer an opportunity for BPW members to engage in a healthy conversation about Title IX.”
